MANGALURU: While travelers to Dubai, till now required a negative report from RT-PCR test done within 96 hours before departure, the time frame has been reduced by 24 hours. Residents and tourists, barring UAE nationals, must now present a valid negative Covid-19 PCR test certificate for a test taken no more than 72 hours before departure from January 31.
According to the new protocols by Dubai government, passengers arriving at Dubai airport UAE citizens will be required to do a PCR test on arrival regardless of the country they are coming from and UAE residents, GCC citizens and visitors need to do a pre travel RT-PCR, irrespective of the country they are coming from. Also, arrivals from some countries, depending on the Covid situation there, may be required to undergo additional tests when landing in Dubai, according to Air India Express officials. The mandatory 72-hour time frame begins from the time the swab was collected for the test.
AIE officials said that on January 31, February 1 and 2, their flights from Mangaluru will land at Sharjah, instead of Dubai, due to some issues and cautioned travelers to follow the 72 hour window since they have not received any communication from the Sharjah Government regarding RT-PCR validity window.
Apart from a valid negative Covid-19 test report for passengers travelling to the UAE, AI Express has again cautioned passengers the test report should be present in the printed (original) form, from a govt-approved lab in India (ICMR/ Pure Health/Micro Health accredited laboratories).
Apart from this, UAE residents who have Dubai issued residence visa must obtain GDRFA approval before travelling through and UAE residents holding residence visa issued through any other emirate are required to get ICA approval to verify the authenticity of their travel. In order to be able to travel, customers must show a green status against their registration details.
All passengers are also required to download the Covid-19 Dubai Smart App and generate a QR code on their device before entering Dubai.
