manager has tested positive for in Portugal after missing his side’s win over Benfica in the Champions League due to ‘flu-like symptoms’.
Nagelsmann, who is double-vaccinated, has to travel back toseparately with an ambulance pilot before going into isolation.
He didn’t attend his team’s game on Wednesday night due to feeling unwell but still stayed in contact with the squad over the phone from his five-star Corinthia Hotel in Portugal and made key decisions as Bayern ran out 4-0 winners.

Nagelsmann tweeted a picture of himself giving the thumbs-up with a faces mask on on Thursday, with the words: ‘Thank you for all your recovery wishes, I am fine under the circumstances. I am very proud of the team, my entire coaching team and the team behind the team! You did a great job yesterday and represented me in the best possible way.’
According to German publication, it was Nagelsmann’s call to bring Serge Gnabry on for Benjamin Pavard in the 66th minute when the game was 0-0.
‘We watched and discussed a few scenes that our video analyst Benjamin Glück edited,’ assistant Dino Topmoller said. ‘It already showed that he was still clear in his head.
‘In the end, it was a crucial point for us that we were even more dangerous with Serge on the offensive. It was a brave decision. It paid off.
‘If Julian is not there, it is not that I am the boss and make my own decisions. I don’t take myself more seriously than I am. I’m just happy that we won the game and that we represented Julian well as the coaching team.’
A Bayern statement on Thursday morning read: ‘Julian Nagelsmann , 34, head coach of FC Bayern Munich, tested positive for the corona virus despite being completely vaccinated.
‘He will return to Munich separately from the team with an ambulance pilot and will go into domestic isolation there.’

Prior to kick-off on Wednesday, Bayern said Nagelsmann had been unwell with ‘flu-like’ symptoms.
‘Unfortunately, Julian Nagelsmann cannot sit on the bench today due to a flu-like infection,’ Bayern said on the club’s official Twitter account before the match.
‘He is represented by his co-trainers, Dino Toppmoller and Xaver Zembrod. Have a good recovery Julian!’
Bayern ran out 4-0 winners against Benfica thanks to a late rally with Leroy Sane scoring twice alongside a Robert Lewandowski strike and an Everton Soares own goal.
But there will now be concerns as to whether any other members of the side will test positive before Saturday’s clash with Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.
Bayern currently lead the standings in Germany but are only a point ahead of second-place Borussia Dortmund.
