A person has been shot by police after a siege in Sydney‘s south west when a Taser and non-lethal rounds proved ineffective. 

NSW Police have been referred to as to a caravan park on Macarthur Highway at Elderslie to verify on the welfare of an occupant simply after 12.15pm on Thursday.

Officers attended one of many cabins and tried to talk to a 52-year-old man.

However police mentioned a fringe needed to be established ‘after the person armed himself with a knife and made threats to self-harm’.

Officers have been helped by specialist sources, with negotiators making an attempt to talk to the person, who has not been recognized, however police mentioned he refused to co-operate.

Members of the tactical operations unit, carrying full riot gear, then entered the cabin simply earlier than 3.30pm.

Police allege the armed man then rushed on the crew with the knife. 

Officers used a taser and fewer than deadly tactical rounds which have been ineffective earlier than the person was shot.

He was instantly handled by NSW Ambulance paramedics on the scene and brought to Liverpool Hospital in a crucial situation.  

Caravan park resident John was returning residence when he was greeted by officers who knowledgeable him there was an ongoing incident.

‘There was about eight of them (officers) they usually weren’t messing round, they’d the complete riot gear on,’ he mentioned on Thursday afternoon.

‘It was fairly scary.’

A crucial incident crew are main the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, NSW Police mentioned.

It’s going to then be reviewed by the Skilled Requirements Command and oversighted by the Legislation Enforcement Conduct Fee.
