Carson Wentz still prefers to move on. Teams are calling the Eagles about him. But as of now, Philadelphia has no plans to move the former starter barring a whopping offer.

That coaching change didn’t change much apparently.

After hiring Nick Sirianni as Doug Pederson’s replacement, the thought was it would keep Wentz in place, as Sirianni had worked under former Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich, one of Wentz’s mentors. But, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Wentz still wants out after taking a step back performance-wise this year and losing his job to rookie Jalen Hurts.

“[He] wants to leave the franchise,” Schefter said on 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia. “That’s why [a] trade still is in play. This is all real. None of this is made up.”

Sirianni has said there will be an open competition at every position, and that includes quarterback, where the 28-year-old Wentz and Hurts could battle it out. NFL Network reported that Wentz has not yet requested a trade, though teams have begun to call the Eagles to gauge their interest in moving Wentz. He signed a four-year, $128 million extension in June of 2019. The Eagles, Schefter said, would need at least a first-round pick in return.

“They will listen,” he said. “Absolutely listen. And if a team makes the right offer, there will be a trade that will be made. But if a team doesn’t make the right offer, I think they’ll be open to bringing him back and having him compete in camp with Jalen Hurts. To me, it could go either way … Just because he would like to be moved doesn’t mean he will be. If I had to guess, I would guess he is traded … But again, they’re not looking to get rid of him. They’re not.”
