Ho ho, no … Cuo!
CNN anchordid some wreath shopping after trashing Christmas in a Thanksgiving rant about holidays and cancel culture pushed by “woke folks.”
Cuomo, spotted Thursday loading some wreaths into his car’s trunk in Amagansett, hadthat Thanksgiving was his favorite holiday, though he fumed that “woke people” are ruining it for him — and that Dec. 25 isn’t one of his faves.
“Christmas doesn’t do it for me. Halloween, candy, New Year’s, depressing,” he said.
Cuomo — who in the past year has come under fire for advising his older brother Andrew, then still New York’s governor on what to do amid allegations of sexual harassment, which ultimately ended in— said he appreciated Easter for its religious significance of spiritual revival and renewal, adding, “Boy, do we need that s–t,” he said.
But Cuomo said Thanksgiving was best, calling it “my jam!”
“And now you woke folk are trying to kill it for me,” he said, alluding to white European settlers’ mistreatment of native Americans. “My kids, beating me down.”
“Listen, man, you know, don’t come up at me with all this pilgrim stuff. I’m second-generation in this country, first of all,” Cuomo said.
“I don’t give a damn about the pilgrims and the indigenous people, the Native Americans, the Indians, wherever, whatever, whatever group of them wants to be called,” Cuomo said. “I don’t care about any of that.”
He continued “I care about the suffrage [suffering]. I care about exploitation. But I don’t need that story for Thanksgiving. I don’t need it at all.”
It’s not the first time the generally left-leaning host has railed against the woke crowd. Cuomo advised his disgracedto fight “cancel culture” when critics initially called for him to resign amid a sexual harassment scandal.
Chris Cuomo said it’s wrong to cancel history by trying to erase historical figures who helped build America, warning that not even Abraham Lincoln is safe using today’s puritanical standards.
He particularly lamented the New York City government’s decision to remove a statue offrom the City Council chambers.
“The idea that Thomas Jefferson’s got to go, he owned slaves, they all owned slaves. Unless they didn’t have the money,” Cuomo said.
He noted that even Abraham Lincoln, who helped save the union and end slavery, held racist views.
“So he’d be a dead man walking today,” said Cuomo.
“Amerigo Vespucci was an imperfect man of his time,” he said of the Italian explorer, whom the continent is named after.
He told the “woke” activists: “Stop seeing your happiness as a function of taking someone else down.”
Meanwhile, exiled Andrew Cuomoon social media showing him spending the Thanksgiving holiday with family — in relaxation mode following a rough week including of the state Assembly’s damning impeachment report that showed he used to write and prep his memoir “American Crisis.”
“Today and everyday, I’m thankful for my girls Cara, Mariah & Michaela and for our family’s rock, my mom, Matilda Raffa Cuomo,” the former pol, along with a photo of himself surrounded by daughters Mariah Kennedy-Cuomo, 26, Cara Kennedy-Cuomo, 26 and Michaela Kennedy-Cuomo, 24 as well as his mother, Matilda Cuomo, 90.
Team Cuomo members also posted photos online in an apparent attempt to show all’s well: ex-top aidetweeted a smiling picture of herself in a brightly lit kitchen holding a spoon, perhaps ahead of enjoying her own Thanksgiving meal.
A trooper — who accused Cuomo of sexual misconduct during testimony provided to investigators with state Attorney General Letitia James’ office — described a story she heard from a superior, where the ex-gov and DeRosa were“making out on the sidewalk like high schoolers.”
Both Cuomo and de Rosa denied the account.
