The Giants fired Jason Garrett after last Monday’s debacle in Tampa Bay. Sadly, not much changed on the offensive side of the football Sunday against the Eagles. Luckily, the defense played lights out against Jalen Hurts and Co., propelling the Giants to a much-needed 13-7 win in front of a rowdy MetLife Stadium crowd.

It’s only fitting the defense was tremendous on the day Michael Strahan was honored at halftime. They stomped them out, indeed.

To talk about the win to improve to 4-7, we bring you a new episode of the “Blue Rush” podcast with Lawrence Tynes and Paul Schwartz.

Blue Rush Podcast with Paul, Lawrence, Jake & Sarah:

  • BIG WIN: Suddenly, the Giants are only a game out of the last playoff spot in the NFC. It felt like a little juice in MetLife Stadium for the first time this season. It was not pretty, but you take any win you get at this point.
  • OFFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS: New offensive coordinator, same struggles. Daniel Jones needs to be better. Receivers need to do a better job getting open. Kenny Golladay has been underwhelming. Good for Chris Myarick getting his first catch and touchdown. Devontae Booker needs to start splitting carries now with Saquon Barkley, who continues to struggle outside of one big run. Riley Dixon was terrible and nearly cost the Giants in the fourth quarter with an awful punt.
  • DEFENSE: The defense carried the team once again. Xavier McKinney is proving to be a potential starter in the NFL. James Bradberry had a huge game shutting down DeVonta Smith. Dallas Goedert was quieted, too.
  • SOLDER/PEART: Tynes has some insight on the Nate Solder/Matt Peart situation and why the struggling Solder continues to start.
  • STRAHAN/TWEETS: We play a clip from Strahan’s halftime speech and discuss how special of a day it was for him and the feel in the building. Sarah discusses her experience at the game. We answer tweets on Jones, the O-line and kickers wearing two different shoes.
