Eduardo Camavinga meets his new Real Madrid team-mates following his £27m move from Rennes after jetting into the Spanish capital for his official unveiling having completed his dream move to the LaLiga giants

Eduardo Camavinga arrived at Real Madrid training to meet his new team-mates and boss Carlo Ancelotti after the LaLiga giants unveiled the Frenchman on Wednesday morning.

Real announced that Camavinga had successfully undergone a medial in the Spanish capital before heading to the club’s Valdebebas training ground.

The 18-year-old completed a £27million-plus-add-ons deal with the Spanish giants on deadline day, with Real fending off Manchester United for the teenage star’s signature.

The teenager was seen jumping on a plane to Spain on Tuesday night after completing his international duty with the France Under-21s.

During the international break, Camavinga played twice for France Under-21s, scoring in a 3-0 win against the Macedonia youth side before Les Bleus were held to a shock draw by the Faroe Islands on Monday.

Camavinga came through the youth ranks at Rennes before becoming one of the top young midfielders in Europe through his performances for the French side.

United and PSG were interested in securing the teen’s services this summer but Real fought off both rivals to seal a long-term deal with the midfielder.

According to a report by AS, the French giants offered Camavinga a lucrative deal involving more money than Madrid but he snubbed the chance to link up with Lionel Messi and co to join Real.

The 18-year-old is one of just two first-team signings made by the Spanish club this summer, along with the arrival of Bayern Munich defender David Alaba on a free transfer earlier this summer.

But the £27m shelled out on the midfielder makes Camavinga the only marquee signing made by the Spanish giants, who announced that £257m had been wiped off the club’s revenue due to the coronavirus pandemic earlier this year.

As a result, Real were resigned to letting several key stars go this summer. Raphael Varane was sold to Manchester United for £42m, while funds were further raised by Martin Odegaard’s £30m sale to Arsenal.

Club captain and talisman Sergio Ramos joined PSG on a free transfer after he was let go by the club.

Los Blancos made three attempts to lure Camavinga’s countryman Kylian Mbappe to the Santiago Bernabeu this summer but were consistently rebuffed by PSG.

Real started bidding at £137m and were prepared to shell out £189m for the French World Cup winner, but the Ligue 1 side decided to hang onto their player for another season.

It is widely expected that Real will return for the 22-year-old next summer. Mbappe has entered the final year of his contract at the Parc des Princes and could leave for free at the end of the season after telling PSG he wants to leave.

The Spanish club could begin contract talks with Mbappe on a pre-contract agreement from January 2022.
