Erin Molan reveals she wanted to host the Today show alongside Karl Stefanovic… but the job went to Allison Langdon instead
Erin Molan started her new gig on 2Day FM’s breakfast program alongside Dave Hughes and Ed Kavalee last month.
And while she’s enjoying the ride with the two comedians, the 37-year-old has admitted she would have jumped at the chance to join Nine’s Today show instead.
‘There have been openings on Today and I would have absolutely loved to have had a call-up,’ Erin told Stellar magazine.

Despite her experience in TV, the presenter has been overlooked for several jobs at Nine – including the coveted Today gig.
‘It hasn’t happened. That’s life. You deal with that a million times over in any industry,’ she said.
The Today show is hosted by Karl Stefanovic and Allison Langdon.
They were appointed co-anchors early last year, after the partnership of Georgie Gardner and Deborah Knight in 2019 was a ratings flop.

Despite the female co-host role going to Allison, Erin isn’t too upset about not being appointed to the Today show.
The media personality – who shares a two-year-old daughter, Eliza, with her fiancé, police officer Sean Ogilvy – said she was thrilled to be joining the 2Day FM family.
She also joked that being a mother had prepared her for the early wake-ups.

‘I haven’t had any actual sleep for two-and-a-half years. So this is no different,’ she told Stellar. ‘And I’m on such a high working with the guys, which is serving me well.’
Speaking about her new radio gig, she said Sean’s support allowed her to take on the demanding role while still keeping up her duties at Nine News.
‘I have a very supportive partner, he is a homicide detective so he has got the real job. He will be doing extra. It will be tough, but really rewarding,’ she said.
