Thousands of Australians flocked to the beach and enjoyed sun-soaked barbecues on January 26.

And among those ‘celebrating Australia Day in traditional Aussie style’ was former cricket WAG Kyly Clarke.

Sporting a hat with an Australian flag ribbon, the 39-year-old captioned a bikini selfie with a friend: ‘HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY EVERYONE. I hope you all enjoyed it with family, friends and loved ones.’

In other posts throughout the day on her Instagram Story, Kyly showed off her national pride with Australian flag emojis and by using the hashtag ‘#straya’.

At one point she was seen dancing with her hands in the air, thanking a local reveller for playing music from a boombox on the beach.

‘Living it up, happy Australia Day everyone,’ she said while dancing.

‘Kelsey Lee [Kyly’s five-year-old daughter] and I had a blast, celebrating in traditional Aussie style, on the beach,’ Kyly captioned one of her posts, adding several hashtags including ‘Australia Day’ and ‘respect to all’.

Meanwhile, the new girlfriend of Kyly’s ex-husband Michael came under attack on Tuesday after seemingly backflipping on her anti-Australia Day message.

In a post on Instagram Stories, Pip Edwards shared a letter to a publication which argued that Australia Day shouldn’t be celebrated on January 26.

The 40-year-old fashion designer endorsed the letter’s message by captioning her post: ‘IN BLACK AND WHITE.’

But just hours later, the P.E Nation co-founder shared photos from an Australia Day party she attended, and wrote: ‘A day to celebrate the land that we live and thrive on. I love you, Australia.’

Fans were quick to criticise Pip for posting photos from the small gathering, which involved a backyard barbecue. Her boyfriend, retired Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke, was among the guests.

‘Did you forget about the Story you posted earlier today? Performative activism is gross,’ commented one follower.

Another added: ‘Wowwwwww. Don’t post a little Instagram story in “support” of changing the date and then go and celebrate Australia Day. Educate yourself!’

Pip also shared a video of a man raising both the Australian and Aboriginal flags, but the Aboriginal flag was flown upside down by mistake.

‘UGH. And the flag you put up was upside down…’ commented one person, while another wrote, ‘Also… your Aboriginal flag is upside down on your flagpole.’
