Opal card strike action called off English Headline

Strike action by rail workers in New South Wales to turn off Opal transport card readers has been called off.

The Perrottet government has taken the union’s latest action to the Fair Work Commission, who will decide on its legality within 48 hours.

By leaving the station gates open and switching off the Opal readers, train and tram passengers are left with no option to pay for their travel.

The rail union has cancelled the action but is considering alternative strike options.
