ACCC to launch inquiry into childcare costs English Headline

The Albanese government is resisting calls to fast-track its childcare relief in the wake of announcing a $50 billion dollar improvement to the nation’s finances.

While Labor has conceded that childcare costs are crippling family budgets, it maintains its budget isn’t in a position to bring forward fee relief.

Following through on an election promise, the government has tasked the competition watchdog, the ACCC, to look into the spiralling cost of childcare.

The 12-month review will cost $10 million and will start in January.
