National day of mourning in honour of Queen Elizabeth II English Headline


Australia is holding a national day of mourning today in honour of Queen Elizabeth II.

A national memorial service will take place in the Great Hall at Parliament House in Canberra, while a minute of silence will be observed at 11am AEST.

The Australian flag will be flown at half-mast all day as a mark of mourning and respect.

Schools, banks and post offices will remain closed, but most shops, retailers and museums will remain open.
