NT Chief Minister Natasha Fyles has announced measures to support Alice Springs and Central Australia and address the alcohol and crime crisis.
Ms Fyles acknowledged that “not everyone will be happy” with the government’s announcements but has asked the community to “work with us”.
“We will now have takeaway alcohol-free days on Monday and Tuesday,” she said.
“We will also have alcohol-reduced hours on the remaining days from three o’clock to 7pm only for takeaway alcohol.
“We will also introduce one transaction per person each day.”
Ms Fyles said the measures will be in place for three months.
