Liberal Senator Hollie Hughes says Australia Day is an “important day” as part of our history and can’t be erased.
“We can acknowledge what has happened to First Nations people since the arrival of Arthur Phillip but that did occur on the 26th of January in 1788,” she told Englishheadline Australia.
“This is an important day as part of our history – we can’t erase that, the majority of Australians embrace it and I think will continue to do so.”
