New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins says the “budget hasn’t been written yet” in a media conference after serving only a few hours as the new head of the country.
“The budget hasn’t been written yet, there is a process that we go through and there will be a budget in May,” Mr Hipkins said.
“There are a range of bits in the budget process and I’m not going to go into the details of those, we never do that, but the prioritising process of those budgets hasn’t yet concluded.
“So there is an opportunity to make that the budget reflects the priorities that I’ve set out.”
