Environs Kimberley Director Martin Pritchard says Western Australia’s new climate change legislation won’t “amount to much” unless “stringent targets” are put in place as gas fracking projects continue in the Kimberley.

“We can’t get to net zero if we’re going to keep polluting at the levels that are currently being proposed,” Mr Pritchard told Englishheadline Australia.

“We do know there is a way forward – mining companies are moving towards renewable energy.

“We need to make a choice – do we want a safe planet … or are we going to continue to allow gas to be exported and extracted fracking in the Kimberley for people to make money out of.”
