Opposition Leader Peter Dutton says the situation in Alice Springs won’t be “solved overnight” and will need a “bipartisan response” in providing additional resources.
“This is an issue that spans a long time; it’s not going to be solved overnight, and it does require a bipartisan response,” Mr Dutton said during a press conference on Thursday.
“I met with the Prime Minister privately; I didn’t make it public, I pleaded with him for additional resources to go in … the Prime Minister has ruled out sending Australian Federal Police to supplement the work of the Northern Territory Police Force.”
