Shares in Credit Suisse, one of the world’s most important systemic banks, have slumped more than 9 per cent overnight in the aftermath of the collapse of the Silicon Valley Bank.

Credit Suisse, founded in 1865 to finance Switzerland’s rail system, saw its shares down 15 per cent at the market opening an all-time low.
