Shadow Energy Minister Ted O’Brien says when the Labor government intervened in the energy market in 2022, it sent a promise to Australian households that relief would start flowing in April this year.

“It is yet another broken promise because relief to households will not be flowing from the government in April this year,” he said during a media conference on Wednesday.

Power bills will rise this winter under the Australian Energy Regulator’s draft determination to the nation’s electricity price safety net.
