The government has been forced by “Chinese belligerence” to make strategic decisions and increase influence in the Indo-Pacific region, says former Labor advisor Stephen Conroy.
Mr Conroy’s comments come as a response to former prime minister Paul Keating’s criticisms of AUKUS on Wednesday.
