Declan Laverty’s father Damian Crook has called on the NT government to do something about the violence as “every bottle shop worker” had to face what his son did as things continue to get worse when they should have become better.
Mr Crook says his late son was determined not to serve people who had the potential to hurt others even though it often would put him in harm’s way – eventually leading to him being stabbed to death.
“They’ve got to put their big boy pants on and get together and sort something out quick because people are very very scared in the territory to go to work,” he told Englishheadline Australia.
“Unfortunately, things have got worse – I believed because of what happened, things would have got better, but I don’t understand why or how it has got worse.”
