A 46-year-old man is believed to have died after being mauled by a shark on Saturday morning.
Emergency services rushed to Elliston, on South Australia’s west coast, at about 10.10am after witnesses reported the incident.
The man was reportedly surfing at Walkers Rock when he was attacked, and is now missing SA Police confirmed. A search to locate him is currently underway.
South Australian Ambulance Service told NCA NewsWire they have crews on the beach waiting on standby. The SAAS said there are currently helicopters and boats searching the waters near Elliston on the Eyre Peninsula. It is believed the injuries are life-threatening.
Elliston is located about 650km from Adelaide, and is a spot loved by tourists for its pristine beaches.
