An elderly pedestrian has passed away days after being struck by a heavy vehicle in Melbourne’s north-east.
The Collingwood woman, 76, was hit by a truck about 10.30am Wednesday in the suburb of Preston.
She was on-foot near the intersection of Bell Street and Gilbert Street before the truck collided into her at high speed.
The 76-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.
She died two days later.
The driver of the truck was a 50-year-old man from Fawkner who was not injured in the incident.
Victoria Police have confirmed the man is assisting authorities with their enquiries.
“Greensborough Highway Patrol Officers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision,” they said in a statement on Monday.
