Shadow Finance Minister Jane Hume says inflation is the “thief in the night” that erodes people’s purchasing power and reduces their standard of living.

“Certainly, we saw the priority of reducing inflation specifically removed from the fiscal objectives and strategy of this budget,” Ms Hume told Englishheadline Australia.

“Surely the objective of a responsible government is to improve the standard of living of all Australians.”
