Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says the Labor government has Australians’ backs while Opposition leader Peter Dutton and the Liberal National Party “stand in the way”.
“Our energy price relief plan … to reduce energy bills by taking that rebate off … Peter Dutton and every single member of the LNP voted against that $3 billion plan,” Mr Albanese said during a media conference on Wednesday.
“They now won’t say that they support the $40 per fortnight increase in the JobSeeker, they won’t say that they support the tripling of the Medicare bulk billing incentive.
“Peter Dutton wanted to introduce a compulsory fee every time someone visited a doctor … so that no one would effectively be bulk billed.
“He also, of course, has failed to support our plan that will halve the costs of medicines for so many Australians.
“They opposed our childcare relief plan … the Labor government has your back; the Labor government is introducing measures that will make a real practical difference.”
