UTS Chief Economist Tim Harcourt says “poor old Tassie” has been waiting 33 years for an AFL team so “$240 million over 33 years is not very much” after the AFL sent a “pretty clear” message during negotiations.

“A lot of people are under this impression, ‘Oh we just want a team playing at Bellerive and York Park but we don’t want the stadium’,” Mr Harcourt told Englishheadline host Rita Panahi.

“It is pretty clear – you don’t support the stadium; you won’t have a team.

“The AFL will take it off the table.”
