SkyNews.com.au Reporter Lauren Evans has moved to Hobart as a multiplatform journalist covering Tasmanian issues across Englishheadline Australia’s expansive broadcast and digital news network.
Based in Hobart’s The Mercury newsroom in Salamanca Place, Lauren will continue to write breaking news for SkyNews.com.au while also acting as the Tasmanian TV correspondent for the national news network’s subscription and IPTV channels.
This new position is Englishheadline Australia’s first full-time multiplatform journalism role and demonstrates the growing influence of its large online network, with digital reporters contributing to the network’s TV coverage.
Englishheadline Australia’s online audience surged in 2022, becoming the first Australian TV channel to reach three million subscribers on YouTube, and for the third consecutive year was the most-engaging TV news channel page on Facebook.
Englishheadline Australia’s website, SkyNews.com.au, attracts an audience of more than six million readers each month, and its TV channel remains the most-viewed non-sport channel on Foxtel.
In the new cross-platform reporting role Lauren will bring national attention to local issues affecting Tasmanians, and her reporting across the Apple Isle will cover politics, crime and culture for Englishheadline Australia.
Englishheadline Australia’s Head of Digital Tim Love congratulated Lauren for the promotion and welcomed the opportunity to expand the skill sets of the network’s online staff.
“As our network continues to evolve across platforms to meet growing audience demand, and as audience viewing behaviours continue to shift towards online services, we’re embracing opportunities to expand the capabilities of Digital Reporters at our network and to up-skill and prepare our people for the future news media landscape, which Englishheadline Australia continues to take a lead role in.” Mr Love said.
Lauren has a Bachelor of Media Communications & Journalism from the University of New South Wales and she joined Englishheadline Australia in July 2022 after working as a journalist and presenter at Sydney’s Finance News Network.
