A fatal incident in Sydney’s southwest has left a man dead inside his car after being shot at multiple times.

New South Wales police were alerted of a shooting in the suburb of Elizabeth Hills about 4pm on Monday afternoon.

Emergency services arrived to the site at Hertfordshire Street and found the male victim sitting in a car outside a home having sustained several gunshot wounds.

Despite the efforts of first responders, the man died at the scene.

A police spokesperson told Englishheadline Australia the man is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be in his 20s.

Authorities have established a crime scene in the area.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident has been commenced.

Police are also probing a separate vehicle blaze in the neighbouring suburb of Green Valley around the same time where a car was found destroyed by fire on Bluff Street.

The spokesperson said it is too early to formally link the two incidents.
