A 41-year-old man has been shot dead by police in North Willoughby, Sydney just before midday on Thursday after he rushed two officers while wielding “chef-style” knives.
The now former resident of Sydney’s Lower North Shore was previously known to NSW Police after a string of minor offences.
Two police officers responded to calls of aggressive and erratic behaviour where residents were being threatened.
The 41-year-old was reportedly armed with “chef-style” knives and rushed the two responding officers who consequently fired four shots, with the man dying at the scene.
NSW Police have admitted, using a taser was a tactical option that was available to the officers and will be subject to review.
