Native forest important for wildlife habitat as Victoria moves to axe industry | Englishheadline

Environment and Water Minister Tanya Plibersek says it’s important to acknowledge native forests are important carbon sequestration providers and wildlife habitat as Victoria moves to end the native logging industry.

“I’m very concerned to ensure that forests that are homes for Leadbeater’s possums, for greater gliders, for of course koalas – continue to offer those important homes of habitats,” Ms Plibersek said during Question Time on Thursday.

“So we are determined to make sure as we update the environment protection laws, that regional forest agreements come under our new national environment standards.”
