A GENEROUS pub landlord is offering new staff a £500 payout just for joining their team this summer.
The Golden Lion, in Newport, Wales is soon set to be packed as Brits flock to beer gardens to soak up the sunshine with a crisp pint.

Located a short walk from the local beach and Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, pub management are calling for new employees to help with the influx of tourists throughout the summer.
A spokesperson told WalesOnline: “We have full-time and part-time positions available.
“Our minimum age is 16 and we look either for a track record in hospitality or an eagerness to learn and give excellent customer service.
“We are busy during the summer months and are offering a £500 bonus payment to new and existing staff who work an average of more than 35 hours over the ten weeks of summer.”
If anyone is interested in working an average of 30 hours a week The Golden Lion is also offering a bonus of £200.
“We also offer hourly rates in excess of living wage, full tip share – our customers are very generous! – and cash tip share”, they added.
This comes as a pub in Australia handed new employees a £3,000 sign-on bonus, on top of a six-figure salary.
The Orchard Hotel in Chatswood, Sydney, which has been looking to fill in the position of head chef, has even resulted in offering a £3,000 referral bonus.
A £160 referral bonus for bar staff has also been offered as it has been struggling to find candidates.
Owner Matt Docker said: “Getting good staff and holding on to them is tough, it’s a shocker.
“It’s almost like every week I’ve got a staff member leaving because they’ve got a better option.”
Potential applicants to run the Sir Gawain and The Green Knight in Wales have been put off by the boozer’s strict regulations.
While commonplace at other boozers, mobile phones, music and TVs are banned at the much-loved pub which is a former farmhouse.
Even dart boards are absent while all beers, mixers and crisps are own label brands sold by pub owner Samuel Smiths.
Meanwhile, pubs hotels and restaurants across the UK saw a record 176,000 job vacancies last year.
