A North Sydney council has unanimously voted against an Aboriginal land claim in a closed meeting.
“I personally find the whole thing quite astounding … how can this land be claimed?” Former Mosman Council deputy mayor Roy Bendall told Englishheadline Australia.
“We’ve been maintaining this land for 100 years, we’ve got bush care groups who volunteer.
“Just at our expenditure alone on maintaining that site for the last hundred years – it should come to council and it should be in the public domain.
“Our concern is defending this public land on behalf of our residents.”
