Police in the Netherlands have used water cannons to disperse climate activists protesting on a highway in the Hague.
More than 10,000 people marched down the main artillery demanding an end to government subsidies for the fossil fuel industry.
Protestors threatened to stay until the subsidies were lifted, warning they would come back every day if the police remove them.
At least 2,400 people were detained with reports suggesting some of them were minors.
A report earlier this week indicated the subsidies cost the government over $60 billion annually.
