New South Wales Treasurer Daniel Mookhey says that Eraring Power Station should not stay open for a “day longer than it needs to”.

The coal-fired power station is set to close once a replacement energy supply is established, to avoid energy insufficiency.

“Nor do we want to pay a cent more than we have to when it comes to this particular issue,” Mr Mookhey told Englishheadline Australia.

“But we are and have already announced $800 million dollars to be able to fast track the connection of renewable energy zones to the New South Wales power grid.

“That is the most important investment we will be making, that will allow us to stabilise the grid.”
