The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined supporters of Australia’s wheelchair basketball team on day four of the Invictus Games in Düsseldorf.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were spotted with massive grins on their faces as they waved their hands in the air from the sidelines at Merkur Spiel Arena on Wednesday.

The pair were seated next to their friend and former UK Invictus Games athlete David Wiseman during Australia’s preliminary match against Ukraine.

It was Meghan’s first appearance at an Invictus Games sporting event and she received a warm welcome from the crowd – with spectators jumping out of their seats to applaud the mother-of-two as she entered the arena.

The 42-year-old looked stylish in a white sweater and beige shorts paired with Chanel flat pumps and happily posed for dozens of selfies with fans.

On Tuesday night after Meghan touched down in the western German city,  the royal couple attended a glitzy reception being held for 1,600 competitors and their loved ones.

The former actress took to the stage to apologise for arriving late, explaining she couldn’t leave Montecito until Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet were “settled” at their California home with their milkshakes.

“I had to spend a little more time getting our little ones settled at home. Getting milk shakes, doing school drop off and then I just landed a couple of hours ago,” the 42-year-old said.

“And I am thrilled that the first event I can do for Invictus is here with all of you. It is amazing and I hear it has got off to a good start so far.”

The Sussexes appearance in Dusseldorf is their first public outing since their “near catastrophic” car chase with paparazzi in New York City earlier this year.
