‘Attractive options’ in booming economy leave defence roles unfilled | Englishheadline

Labor MP Julian Hill says when Australia’s economy thrives, defence and first responders, such as the police, face recruitment challenges due to other attractive job options.

He pointed out that “vice versa when the economy’s weakening or in a recession.”

“It’s a serious issue for the country,” Mr Hill told Englishheadline Australia.

“Our strategic circumstances are worsening right across the region.

“We need to increase the size of the ADF by a target of at least 18,500 by 2040.”
