Some of the world’s most renowned tech leaders gathered at US Capitol in Washington, DC on Wednesday for a closed-door forum on Artificial Intelligence.
The high profile list of attendees included Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg, Tesla and X CEO Elon Musk, former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, and Open AI’s Sam Altman.
The high-level discussions were prompted by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, who sought to pass bipartisan legislation that encouraged AI development, while discussing the major risks posed by the sector.
The major obstacle currently posed by US lawmakers is the effect of AI on employment, and the rapid spread of misinformation generated by AI.
Also in attendance at the forum were several tech executives, tech advocates, civil rights groups, labour leaders, and all 100 United States senators.
