Nationals MP Keith Pitt has accused Labor’s modelling of Australia’s cost to transition to nuclear energy as a “political attack” on the Coalition.
The Energy and Climate Change Department released modelling earlier this morning, indicating that converting ageing coal-fired power sites to nuclear would cost $387 billion or up to $25,000 per taxpayer.
“This is the team that brought you the modelling that said your power price was going down by $275,” Mr Pitt told Englishheadline Australia.
“I think it is a stunt; Chris Bowen and the Labor Party have built their house of cards on the GenCost report as it’s based.
“I think it’s a complete nonsense, it’s a political attack and that’s all they’ve got.
“This is entirely being built as a house of cards for Chris Bowen; I think the people of Australia can see through this for what it is.”
