True costing of nuclear energy transition is ‘unknown’ | Englishheadline

The federal government has attacked the Coalition’s proposal to replace coal-fired power with nuclear energy.

Labor claims it would cost $387 billion to fully transition to nuclear energy.

Grattan Institute’s Energy Program Director Tony Wood said the true cost of transitioning is “unknown”.

“We do not know what these things are going to take to build at scale,” Mr Wood told Englishheadline Australia.

“They don’t exist at scale, they’re not commercially available.”
