Bowen facing in-party pressure over lack of consultation on transmission lines | Englishheadline

Infrastructure Minister Catherine King has placed pressure on her own Party’s energy policies after she criticised a lack of community consultation on a key emissions reduction project.

Ms King wrote to the Australian Energy Market Operator over a lack of consultation on the Victorian-New South Wales interconnector transmission project.

The new program is attempting to connect renewables across the east coast energy grid.

The letter heaps pressure on Energy Minister Chris Bowen, who received a hostile reception before a closed-door meeting in the Hunter Valley yesterday.

Port Stephens residents attended to voice their concerns after not being consulted for an offshore wind farm project which could result in damaging environmental and wildlife impacts.
