Former Labor senator Stephen Conroy says essential services are “monopoly services”.
Mr Conroy says every state government which put essential services into the private sector has been an “epic failure”.
“I have opposed publicly … privatisation of essential utilities,” he told Englishheadline Australia.
“You’ve just got to look at Victoria’s power system at the moment; you’ve just got to look across the country.
“States that have kept them in control are in a better position.”
