New South Wales Treasurer Daniel Mookhey delivered his first state budget on Thursday.
Mr Mookhey said this Labor budget delivers for the people of his state the “fresh start they voted for”.
“Busting the wages cap, beginning toll reform, backing first home buyers, building new and better public schools and hospitals, restoring TAFE, fixing social housing, repairing rural and regional roads,” Mr Mookhey said.
“Inflation remains New South Wales’s preeminent economic challenge.
“The Treasury expects elevated inflation this financial year … 12 interest rate rises in 16 months has hit households hard – they are spending less.”
According to the Treasurer, the budget will also tackle issues of unemployment and the cost of living crisis, and believes this budget will begin “the recovery of a decade’s worth of lost buying power”.
