A Senate inquiry into the federal government’s decision to block extra Qatar Airways flights into Australia begins on Tuesday.

Shadow Transport Minister Bridget McKenzie said the committee will exercise summoning powers if key people do not attend.

This includes former Qantas CEO Alan Joyce, current CEO Vanessa Hudson, Chairperson Richard Goyder and other stakeholders.

“We’re working as hard as possible to get the jigsaw puzzle of who’s appearing when and where,” Ms McKenzie told Englishheadline Australia.

“We’re all committed to getting to the bottom of the reason the Albanese government refused to increase competition through the Qatar Airways decision.”
