The New South Wales Labor government will shortly hand down its first budget.
Some in the tourism sector fear the state will begin losing out on vital visitor dollars, amid plans to slash Destination New South Wales marketing budget by up to 30 per cent.
Tourism and Transport Forum CEO Margy Osmond said the tourism industry has felt “more pain” than any other during the period of COVID and is still in “recovery mode”.
“We’re in the toughest tourism global market anybody’s ever seen,” Ms Osmond told Englishheadline Australia.
