Foreign Minister Penny Wong has responded to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s accusation the Indian government was involved in the assassination of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar outside Vancouver.
The Foreign Minister had no choice but to admit she had spoken to her Indian counterparts about the issue and expressed her concern.
“It’s a far cry from the embrace Anthony Albanese gave Narendra Modi at the G20 and puts Australia in a bit of a sticky situation,” Englishheadline Political Editor Andrew Clennell said.
“India are one of our quad partners in terms of that grouping of four Scott Morrison helped re-establish to attempt to counter the influence of China.”
Mr Clennell said these are the problems Ms Wong must tackle.
