Victorian government’s housing policy approved by state cabinet | Englishheadline

A short-stay accommodation tax and several more reforms are set to be announced in Victoria on Wednesday as part of a long-awaited housing package.

The Victorian state cabinet has approved Daniel Andrews’ housing package and the Premier will reveal the housing policy later today.

The Victorian government hopes to build more than 800,000 homes over the next 10 years to address the housing crisis in Victora.

This housing package will have numerous reforms including changes to short-stay accommodations taxes increased to 7.5 per cent.

The controversial increase in short-term accommodation announcements has not been welcomed by companies like Stayz and Airbnb.
