The second NYPD cop wounded during a melee with an armed suspect in The Bronx was released from the hospital on Friday afternoon, two days after the shooting.

Officer Robert Holmes, 31, was wheeled out of St. Barnabas Hospital to applause and salutes from his brothers and sisters in blue, video and pictures released by the department and Police Benevolent Association showed.

Among those cheering for the eight-year veteran was his partner Officer Alejandra Jacobs, who was discharged from the same hospital on Thanksgiving.

The two cops were each shot Wednesday evening after responding to a call about a man with a gun at East 187th Street and Beaumont Avenue

The suspect opened fire after Holmes told him to take his hands out of his pockets, police said. Jacobs, 23, then returned fire five times, hitting the suspect, according to officials.

NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said the suspect was a “career criminal with far too many arrests, still on the streets of New York City.”

The suspect’s gun, Shea said, had been reported stolen in Georgia last year. Sources said the man has nine previous arrests including for criminal possession of a loaded weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance and robbery.

“We saw officers doing their job protecting the people in the city with incredible bravery,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said at the hospital Wednesday night. “They want to save lives. They were not thinking about themselves.”

Charges were pending against the suspected gunman Friday. He was being treated at St. Barnabas, where he was expected to survive, cops said.
