Soap star Lisa Brown who featured on Guiding Light and As The World Turns dies at 67 after ‘brief illness’
Lisa Brown who starred on such beloved shows as Guiding Light and As The World Turns has died at the age of 67.
The news was confirmed bywhich revealed only that she had experienced a ‘brief illness’ at the end.
She shot to fame on Guiding Light, one of the longest-running dramas in the history of American TV, as the beautiful Nola Reardon who always dreamed of being famous.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s Lisa was a mainstay of the soap opera world, going back and forth between Guiding Light and As The World Turns.
The writer Doug Martland, who also hopped between top soap operas, was the man behind both of Lisa’s star-making parts.
She captured the hearts of As The World Turns fans as former porn star Iva Snyder, who is harboring a secret that she has a daughter whom she gave up.
The daughter was played by Martha Byrne, who was pals with Lisa off-screen and gave a touching statement after her death.

‘How blessed were we all are to have Lisa share her immense talent with us for decades. She was my friend since I was 15 years old from the day Doug Marland introduced me to my “mother,”‘ said Martha.
‘Lisa was my mentor, mother, sister and so much more for my entire life. As a scene partner she was always present and full of creativity,’ she added.
‘As a writer and director her instincts were second to none. I will miss our daily calls about our families, our careers and everything in between.’
Martha gushed: ‘For the fans, she loved and respected you all more than you will ever know. She loved entertaining you and her appreciation for your support was immeasurable. We are devastated at the loss of an incredible woman.’

Born in Kansas City in 1954, she spent the 1970s working in the New York theater and snagged multiple gigs on Broadway according to.
In addition to multiple roles in the original 1978 production of The Best Little W****house in Texas, she also worked in revivals of Hello, Dolly! and Pal Joey.
Even in the early 1980s as her star rose on Guiding Light she found time – during her run on the program – to return to Broadway in 42nd Street.

Lisa tried her hand at directing for the first time on As The World Turns and continued helming episodes of such shows as One Life To Live.
Her first marriage was to her Guiding Light love interest Tom Nielsen, with whom she shares her children Buddy and Victoria.
Along with her children and grandchildren she is also survived by her second husband Brian Neary whom she married in 1997.
