The Weeknd will bring his Super Bowl LV halftime performance into the stands for a ‘phenomenal and historic’ show in Tampa Bay

He’ll take the stage for a performance of a lifetime on Sunday.

And The Weeknd is gearing up for a ‘phenomenal and historic’ Super Bowl LV halftime show in the stands at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida.

The 30-year-old entertainer gave just a hint into what’s to come this weekend during the Pepsi Super Bowl LV Halftime Show Press Conference at Tampa Convention Center on Thursday afternoon.

The Weeknd — who’s full name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye — looked dapper in a black suit and tie as he hinted at a stellar show in the works.

‘Due to COVID and for the safety of the players and workers, we kind of built the stage within the stadium,’ he said. ‘We’re also using the field as well, but we wanted to do something that we’ve never done before. But I’m not gonna tell you anything else because you’ll have to watch on Sunday.’

Sources told Page Six the performance will ‘only in the stands and nothing in the field. It’s really phenomenal, different and historic.’

While most halftime shows require 5,000 staffers for setup and breakdown alone, the coronavirus has changed production efforts, forcing designs to be scaled back.

‘It’s a total of 1,000 people, and they can’t touch the field,’ an insider said. ‘How do you pull off a show that’s not on the field and is as impactful as its ever been with same level of entertainment?’

The source added: ‘Wait till you see it, it’s beautifully done. It’s different and it’s historic.’

'We're incorporating a little bit, but again you'll have to watch on Sunday … the crowd here is insane — they don't sing the lyrics back, they scream them back at you. It's such an experience, I love Tampa. I feel at home,' he said.

His massively popular song, Blinding Lights, was also named the most streamed song of 2020 by Spotify despite the artist being controversially snubbed with zero nominations from the Grammy Awards.
